Why I built SupaMail
My work inbox is also on Rackspace.
Claude could not connect to it.
So I built SupaMail.
SupaMail connects a standard Rackspace Email inbox to Claude through remote MCP.
Connect the inbox once.
Then ask Claude to:
- Find the latest message about a customer.
- Read the thread before a meeting.
- Recover what you agreed to.
- Prepare the next reply.
SupaMail gets the email context from the synced inbox.
You do not have to paste it into the chat.
What you need
You need:
- A standard Rackspace Email mailbox.
- Your full email address.
- Your mailbox password.
- IMAP access for the mailbox.
- Access to custom connectors in Claude.
You do not need to enter Rackspace server settings when you use the SupaMail Rackspace preset.
The preset uses Rackspace's secure IMAP service.
Connect Rackspace Email to Claude
Choose Rackspace Email
Sign in to SupaMail.
Add an inbox.
Choose Rackspace Email.
Enter the mailbox login
Enter your full Rackspace Email address.
Enter the password for that mailbox.
Do not use the password for the Rackspace control panel unless it is also the mailbox password.
Start the sync
SupaMail connects to Rackspace and starts syncing messages.
The time depends on the mailbox size.
Messages become available after SupaMail syncs them.
Add SupaMail to Claude
Open
Customize > Connectorsin Claude.Add the SupaMail remote MCP URL.
Complete the sign-in step.
Team and Enterprise workspaces may require an owner to add the connector first.
Test one Rackspace message
Start a new Claude conversation.
Enable the SupaMail connector.
Find the latest email from Rackspace.
Then test a task from your own work:
Read the thread with Acme about the renewal.
What did we agree to in the email thread with Sam?
Prepare a reply that confirms the meeting on Tuesday.
What the SupaMail tools can do
The tools in this guide can:
- Search synced messages.
- Read individual messages.
- Read email threads.
- Recover context from past messages.
- Prepare reply text.
The tools in this guide do not send the reply.
They do not manage attachments or organize the mailbox.
Rackspace IMAP settings
The SupaMail preset uses these standard Rackspace settings:
- Server:
secure.emailsrvr.com - Port:
993 - Security: SSL/TLS
- Username: Your full email address
You normally do not need to enter these settings yourself.
Security
SupaMail connects to Rackspace over an encrypted connection.
It encrypts the mailbox password before it saves it.
It encrypts message bodies before private storage.
It hashes access tokens.
You enter the mailbox password in SupaMail, not in Claude.
You can revoke the SupaMail connection token.

Frequently asked questions
Does this work with every Rackspace email product?
No.
It works with standard Rackspace Email through IMAP.
It does not support Microsoft 365 through the Rackspace preset.
How do I know which Rackspace product I use?
Check the incoming mail server in your current email app.
Standard Rackspace Email normally uses secure.emailsrvr.com.
Ask your email administrator if you are unsure.
Do I need a Rackspace administrator?
Usually, no.
You can connect your own mailbox when IMAP access is active.
An administrator must help if your company disabled IMAP access.
Which password should I use?
Use the password for the email mailbox.
This can differ from the password for the Rackspace control panel.
Does Claude see my Rackspace password?
No.
You enter the mailbox password in SupaMail.
Claude connects to SupaMail through the remote connector.
Can these tools send Rackspace email from Claude?
No.
Claude can prepare a reply.
You review and send it from your email app.
Can Claude read my old Rackspace email?
Claude can read messages after SupaMail syncs them.
The available history depends on the completed sync.
Can I use another AI tool?
SupaMail uses remote MCP.
It can work with AI tools that support this connection method.
